Project Engineer
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated MSP Project Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and executing IT projects, delivering technical expertise, and ensuring seamless integration of technology solutions for our clients. The MSP Project Engineer will work closely with both internal teams and clients to ensure the successful delivery of projects, from planning through implementation and support.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning and Coordination: Collaborate with clients, project managers, and internal teams to define project scope, objectives, and timelines. Develop detailed project plans, allocate resources, and set milestones to ensure timely delivery.
Technical Leadership and Implementation: Provide technical direction and hands-on implementation for IT projects, including network infrastructure, cloud services, hardware, software installations, and other IT solutions.
Client Interaction and Requirements Gathering: Work directly with clients to understand their technical requirements, challenges, and goals. Serve as the main technical point of contact throughout the project lifecycle.
Solution Design and Architecture: Design and configure IT systems, networks, and infrastructure that meet client requirements, using industry best practices and ensuring scalability, reliability, and security.
Project Execution: Oversee the execution of IT projects, ensuring technical specifications are met, and that the project is delivered on time, within budget, and in line with the scope.
System Configuration and Testing: Configure, test, and implement new systems, software, and technologies, ensuring that all solutions work seamlessly and meet client expectations.
Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Address any technical issues that arise during project implementation, working quickly and effectively to resolve problems and minimize disruptions.
Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of all systems, configurations, and processes related to each project, including setup guides, architecture diagrams, and post-implementation reports.
Training and Knowledge Transfer: Provide training and guidance to clients and internal teams on new systems and technologies implemented as part of the project.
Project Reporting: Report on project status to stakeholders, including progress updates, potential risks, and solutions to ensure client satisfaction and project success.
Post-Implementation Support: Offer post-project support, including troubleshooting, system optimization, and helping clients with ongoing maintenance or future upgrades.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
2-4 years of experience in an IT project engineering role, ideally in a Managed Service Provider (MSP) environment.
Hands-on experience with IT infrastructure, network design, cloud services, and other technologies commonly deployed in an MSP context (e.g., Microsoft 365, AWS, VMware, firewalls, routers).
Strong knowledge of IT best practices, systems integration, and network architecture.
Experience with project management tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Jira, Trello) and ticketing systems (e.g., ConnectWise, ServiceNow).
Excellent communication and client-facing skills, with the ability to explain complex technical solutions to non-technical stakeholders.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to resolve issues efficiently and effectively.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, keeping them on track and meeting deadlines.
Preferred Skills:
Certifications such as PMP, CompTIA Project+, ITIL, or vendor-specific certifications (e.g., Cisco CCNA, Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert).
Experience with managed IT services, including remote monitoring and management (RMM) tools and automated solutions.
Knowledge of security best practices and experience with implementing secure IT systems.
Familiarity with virtualized environments and cloud services, such as Microsoft Azure or AWS.
